What to Expect

A machinery condition monitoring program should not only indicate when a machine is going bad but should maintain all machinery at maximum performance levels, reducing unplanned downtime and insuring maximum life.

How a machine or machine component shows changes in its condition is the most important factor when deciding which operating parameters to measure.

The best and most effective condition monitoring programs consist of periodic and or continuous monitoring, combined with visual inspections and time-based component replacements

Exception reports generated by the condition monitoring software highlight machinery problems, reducing the task of reviewing all the data.

A good understanding of sensors and measurement parameters is the key to obtaining measurements that truly reflect machine conditions.

Want to Get Started?

  1. Start by reviewing the machinery in your plant. Make a list and prioritize the ones that need to be monitored.
  2. Consider Manpower. Someone will be required to collect the data. Who will be assigned the responsibility? How much time can be dedicated to the program?
  3. How often will you collect data on each machine? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Bimonthly? If you have several machines that require frequent monitoring, a continuous monitoring or protection system might be the best solution.
  4. Call on V.I.T.S. to obtain consultative advice on the type of equipment that would be best with your given parameters. Share your program goals and budgetary restrictions and we will work with you to meet your goals in the least costly, but most effective way.
